Thanjavur: AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala’s nephew TV Mahadeven, aged 47, passed away after suffering a heavy cardiac arrest today (Saturday) morning.

Sources said, efforts are on to get parole for Sasikala, who is now lodged at central prison in Bengaluru after being convicted in DA case, to help her attend the funeral slated to take place tomorrow (Sunday) Mahadevan, former state secretary of Jayalalithaa Pervai, is the son of Sasikala’s brother Dr Vinodhagan.
Mahadevan had gone to Mahalingeswarar temple in Thiruvidaimarudur to worship on today early morning with three guards accompanying him. He was undertaking the ‘Pradakshina’ when he suddenly fainted and collapsed on the floor. He was immediately rushed to Thiruvidaimarudur government hospital and from there admitted to a private hospital where doctors declared him dead, sources said.
His body was later shifted to a private hospital in Thanjavur and then to his residence in Parisutham Nagar, Thanjavur.
Sasikala’s brother Divakaran, ministers R Duraikkannu, Rajendra Balaji, MLA Nainar Nagendran, among others, placed wreaths and paid their last respects. AIADMK deputy general secretary and Sasikala’s another nephew TTV Dinakaran is on his way to Thanjavur from Chennai to pay his last respects.
Mahadevan was one of Sasikala’s kin who were expelled from AIADMK by the then general secretary Jayalalithaa in December 2011.
