TIRUCHY: The written examination conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission for the post of Assistant Director of Handloom and Textiles witnessed a poor turnout of candidates in Tiruchy district today.

The examinations were held at three centres namely St John’s Vestry Anglo Indian higher secondary school, Seva Sangam girls’ higher secondary school and Methodist Girls’ higher secondary school- in Tiruchy.
Of the total 803 candidates who had registered to appear for the exam, only 431 candidates took the exam while 372 candidates did not turn up for the exam. The absentees accounted for 46.33 per cent.
Meanwhile, Collector K S Palanisamy visited the examination centres and personally inspected the conduct of written exam.
