While salt is an absolute necessity in any meal, there are many other potential uses of salt. So, apart from its use in the kitchen, here's how you can put salt to some good use in other parts of the house.

To fight odour - Mix salt with lemon juice to make a paste and rub it on clothes. Keep it to dry in the sunlight and wash it off later.

To remove grease - Cover the pan which has grease with a layer of salt and put water over it. After 20 minutes the grease can be wiped off easily.

To deodorise your shoes - Sprinkle salt over your stinking canvas shoes / sneakers. The salt will absorb all the moisture from the shoes and make them smell good.
