This wearable ‘chairless chair’ lets you sit anywhere; want to try it?

Long working hours in today’s fast-paced world. While many of us have the luxury of sitting and working, there are others who are always on their feet. To solve this issue of a German start-up called Noonee, in collaboration with Swiss design consulting firm Sapetti, has devised a seating apparatus that isn’t your traditional chair.

The Chairless Chair is primarily designed for a ‘manufacturing environment’, where the workers are required to stand for a long duration and where the use of traditional chairs would not be possible. Made of titanium, along with a series of adjustable straps that do not restrict movement, this wearable exoskeleton allows the user to not only to walk freely but also gives them instant support once they get into a bending, squatting or crouching positions.

This could potentially be a boon for all those suffering from long-term back pain and musculoskeletal disorders due to long hours of standing on their feet. There are various long term diseases and health problems that tend to occur if a person continuously stands for long hours. Swelling of the legs, Varicose veins and nocturnal leg cramps are some of the common problems that due to this.

The product took over two years to come up and is the versatile design can be adjusted to suit people of different heights and girths, and it can also be fitted to various work-safe footwear. It is durable and light weight and is focused on understanding the needs of factory workers.

Technology is a combination of techniques, skills, methods and processes that are often used to enhance a certain procedure or system. Over the years, technology has smoothly blended into our lives that now it seems difficult to imagine living without it. With such innovation, those who are strained because of their strenuous working hours, could surely get some welcome relief.
