When you think of the name Ford, your first thought probably isn't about dogs and it is focused on big trucks, right? Same here. Well, if you're not up-to-date on Ford's other ventures, pet owners will be pleased to learn that Ford has begun creating doghouses and they're perfect for pets that can get a little skittish during thunderstorms and fireworks displays.

The tough thing about thunderstorms, high winds, fireworks, and other inclement weather is that we cannot explain it to our pets. We understand that it will only last for a little while or a few hours, but our pets don't have the same concept of time as we do. That's why they're always so excited to see you when you get home, no matter how long you've been gone. When there is a storm or fireworks, we can try to comfort our pets when they are scared, but sometimes there isn't much we can do to help.

Ford Europe is looking to change that with their noise-cancelling kennels. Currently, the kennel is just a prototype as a part of their series of initiatives, called Interventions. The idea was to use the same technology that was introduced in the Edge SUV for noise-cancelling. When the car and kennel's microphones pick up high levels of noise, the sounds are counteracted by use of opposing sound waves from the audio system.

Lyn West, brand content manager, Marketing Communications, Ford of Europe said in the press release:

"We wondered how the technologies we use in our cars could help people in other situations. Making sure dogs and their owners could enjoy a stress-free New Year's Eve seemed like the perfect application for our Active Noise Control system, and we have a few more ideas in progress as to how our everyday lives might benefit from a little Ford know-how."

The counteracting sounds can help ease your pet's anxiety during a thunderstorm or a fireworks display on New Year's Eve, Memorial Day, or obviously, the 4th of July. To achieve this level of noise-cancellation in the prototype, high-density cork was heavily used in the design.
