Two suspected militants were killed on Saturday during a raid by an anti-terrorism unit on a hideout in Bangladesh's Gazipur city.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) spokesperson Mufti Mahmud Khan confirmed the deaths to bdnews24.com but did not disclose their identities.
Security forces had surrounded a house in west Harinal area in Gazipur district since early Saturday.
A senior official said one AK 47 rifle, bomb-making material, one laptop, a locally-made sharp weapon and some bullets were seized, the Dhaka Tribune reported.
Locals said the militants had rented the recently constructed house a month ago.
The unit's senior officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sanowar Hossain, told bdnews24.com that they acted on a tip-off about the presence of 'Neo-JMB' Dhaka region commander Akash in that location.
Meanwhile, law enforcers were exchanging gunfire with alleged militants in another raid on a two-storey house in Pathartek area of Gazipur, the Daily Star quoted Harunur Rashid, police superintendent of the district, as saying.
