At least four people were dead and 25 others remained missing after an overcrowded boat capsized in south-central Bangladesh.
There were over 50 people in the boat when it capsized in Sandya river amid strong currents.
"Four bodies have so far been recovered but some 25 passengers of the sunken boat are missing," an official in coastal Barisal district said.
He said fire service divers with the assistance of police and people in the neighborhood were carrying out rescue efforts.
A fire service official said that their divers have located the sunken vessel and were preparing to look for more bodies feared to be trapped inside.
"Some 25 passengers were rescued or swam ashore as the launch sank near a terminal," a police officer said.
Ferry accidents are common in Bangladesh, crisscrossed by over 300 rivers while many of them turn turbulent during the monsoon time.
