Ten people have died and three others are missing after flooding and landslides in West Java.
Hundreds of people have been displaced after driving rains overwhelmed the Cimanuk and Cikamuri rivers in the early hours of Wednesday morning, causing flood waters to reach up to two metres, National Disaster Management Board Spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said.
In the nearby town of Garut, eight people where killed while further north in Sumedang two people died.
Mr Nugroho says the flood waters were only knee high at 8 PM on Tuesday but by 11 PM they were between 1.5 to two metres.
'At the moment, the flood has eased,' he said in a statement.
'The landslide buried two houses, two people were found dead and two people are suspected to still be buried by the landslide'.
Flooding has eased in the Cimanuk and Cikamuri rivers but residents have been warned to stay alerted, with the area expecting wet weather until early next year, peaking in January.
While this time of year is usually drier in Indonesia, a combination of La Nina and warm sea waters has caused abundant rain.
