The announcement was made by Pakistan Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday (October 25), ahead of Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to China, according to Pakistani news portal, The News. This will be the premier's first official visit to China after assuming office in August.
Interestingly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in August, had announced India would send a human into space by 2022. With the move, India had apparently stepped up its rivalry with China.
China launched its first manned space mission in 2003 becoming the third country in the world to independently develop manned mission after Russia and the United States. And it seems like, Pakistan, China's ally, is raking in the benefits.
Islamabad and Beijing already have robust defence and military ties. The two countries are also involved in a multi billion-dollar investment deal - the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the main plank of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Earlier this year, Pakistan launched two indigenously built satellites into orbit. The satellites were transported to Beijing and launched using a Chinese launch vehicle.
