India continues close co-operation with Bangladesh on Rohingya crisis

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Monday said that India is working in close co-operation with Bangladesh for repatriation of Rohingyas. He said that 250 houses are being constructed for the Rohingyas who will be repatriated to Mongdu in Myanmar.


Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Monday said that India is working in close co-operation with Bangladesh for repatriation of Rohingyas. He said that 250 houses are being constructed for the Rohingyas who will be repatriated to Mongdu in Myanmar.

He was distributing relief material in Cox's Bazar town in south-eastern Bangladesh.

Shringla said that India is with Bangladesh from the very start of the Rohingya crisis. He said that India has stayed by Bangladesh's side in times of need. He further said that India will continue providing humanitarian assistance to support the displaced Rohingyas.

The third round of provision of relief materials was carried out by Disaster and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury. 10 lakh 10 thousand litres of kerosene and 20 thousand stove burners were provided to the needy.

On September 14, 2017, India sent 53 tons of food items for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

Last month, 104 metric tons of powdered milk, 102 metric tons of dried fish, 61 metric tons of baby food, 50 thousand raincoats and 50 thousand pieces of gum boots were sent by Indian government for Rohingya refugees.
