The state's national guard team flew in to save a man who climbed the mountain to take his own life but later changed his mind.
The man was brought to a nearby hospital where he is now recovering.
Mount Hood is about 80 kilometres south-east of Portland and is about 3,420 metres high.
The video shows the rear end of the Chinook helicopter carefully perched over the snow and lightly hovering from the front end. It successfully took off with the climber and six rescuers with the whole operation completing in about 30 minutes.
According to local news reports citing officials, the climber chose Oregon's tallest peak as the place to end his life and then changed his mind when he got to the top.
