First Television advertisement was aired today in 1941

Today marks an important day in the history of advertisement, 66 years ago on the same day, the first legal television commercial was aired in New York.

Bulova, a watch and Jewellery company established in New York, holds the pride to be the first client to launch a TV commercial.

The commercial was only for a brief 10 seconds with some graphics about the product and a live voice over as the content. The commercial was aired at 2:29 pm at a baseball game between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies. They incurred a spot cost of $9, $4 for airtime and $5 for station charges, according to American Heritage magazine. However, the commercial reached just a few thousands, as there were only 4000 television users around the city.
