How to Maintain a Good Fitness Regime

Getting in shape doesn't have to mean countless hours of grueling workouts at the gym. Getting fit does not have to take place at the gym, and the following tips show you ways you can improve your fitness, regardless of where you want to burn those extra calories.

A good way to stay in shape is to pick a fitness regimen that will tone your body and keep you agile. Search for fitness classes in your surrounding area.

Counting calories is helpful when trying to lose weight. Paying attention to your calorie consumption helps you plan your workouts. By eating fewer calories each day and burning them off through exercise, soon enough you will be fit.

Crunches shouldn't be all you concentrate on when you're working out abdominal muscles. It has been shown that for every 250,000 crunches, only 1 pound of fat is burned. So, if your only workout is crunches, you end up cheating yourself. Find other ways to exercise your abdominal muscles so you achieve the results you really want.

When bicycling, aim for your pace to be around 80-110 rpm. This will promote less knee strain, as well as fatigue while allowing you to ride farther and faster. Count each time your leg comes up within a time span of 10 seconds and multiply it by six and you'll have your pace. 80 to 110 rpm is the range you should shoot for when cycling.

m. routine. Get used to the idea by getting up a few minutes earlier than normal and use that time to do light exercises, like jumping rope or walking. This will get you going in the morning and lay a fitness foundation you can build on later.

Do not stop your workout routines on the weekends! The weekends are not a time to get lazy and eat unhealthy. Weight loss needs to be on your mind 7 days a week. Think of how good you will feel on Monday, knowing that you stuck to your workout plan all weekend long. Build your self esteem by including weekends in your fitness goals.

Avoid using the words "workout" or "exercise" for your fitness routine. Using those terms can make you feel less motivated and excited about exercising. When you go and exercise, instead call it running or cycling.

Try counting in reverse. Rather than counting upwards when tallying repetitions, count backwards from the intended total. This will make you strive to complete your exercise set. Counting down helps your brain realize there is only so much more left to complete when you are working out.

You should not bind your thumb around the bar when doing workouts that include pull-ups or pull-downs. To make the exercise focused on your back muscles, not the arm muscles, try placing your thumb next to your index finger. Although it may feel somewhat strange, it will result in you working on the right muscles.

Getting into shape and becoming healthy can seem like a challenge, but it can be quite enjoyable as well. Use some of these hints in your everyday life and watch the weight fall off. Try to think of good fitness as a daily habit. More exercise with greater frequency will easily help you reach your fitness goals.
