A special medical camp was organized for the diagnosis of cervical cancer and breast cancer for women inmates under the theme 'Varum Mun Kaappom' on behalf of an NGO at Coimbatore Women's special branch jail.
Coimbatore: A special medical camp was conducted for the diagnosis of cervical cancer and breast cancer for women inmates at the Special Branch For Women in Coimbatore.
As per the instructions of Director General of Police of Tamil Nadu and Head of Prisons and Correctional Services Department Amresh Pujari, a special medical camp was held at the Coimbatore Women's Special Branch Jail.
Under the guidance of Shanmuga Sundaram, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Coimbatore Range, the camp was presided over by Coimbatore Central Jail Superintendent Urmila and medical tests were conducted on women inmates to diagnose cervical cancer and breast cancer.
The camp, organized by senthamamizh foundation, an NGO, with the theme "Varummun Kaappom", was conducted by doctors Radhika, Silambuselvi and Sudha of Coimbatore District Gynaecology Society to diagnose cervical cancer and breast cancer for women inmates.
During the camp, doctors advised the women inmates on the cause of this type of cancer, ways to prevent it, how to diagnose it and how to treat them.
They also clarified the doubts of the women jail inmates.
