City Health Officer Dr Pradeep told 'Simplicity' that no cases of Influenza have been reported to date. Seasonal fever cases are under constant monitoring to ensure optimum public health.
Coimbatore: City Corporation Health Department will be conductingmedical camps in the city limits on March 9 and 10.
The surge in fever and flu infection has caused panic among the public. Tamil Nadu Health ministry had earlier announcedthat medical camps would be organized across the state on 10th March.
While City Health Officer Dr.Pradeep told Simplicity that no cases of Influenzahave been reported to date. The regular fever cases are under constant monitoring to ensure public health.
He informed that only 16 cases of fever were reported until 6th March, followed by 3 Covid-19 cases on Sunday.
"The current spread of Influenza is a viral infection for which a person can be fatigued for 7 days, including 3 days of fever accompanied by cough or cold in a few cases,†the doctor said.
“If a person is less immune then there are high chances for the infection to perpetuate for up to 3 weeks with chronic dry cough. The surge might be a mutational cause and Coimbatore is safe as of now," CHO assured.
He noted that regular medical examination camps are being set up as part of their health scheme to which additional stress is given to identify hotspots of increased fever cases.
Speaking of precautionary actions, he advised the public to wear masks in public places.
"Further, in case of contracting fever, it is advisable to consult a doctor and avoid self-medication.Paracetamol is prescribed for mild fevers" he noted.
Based on the overall reported cases on a daily count, the areas of camps will be scheduled. On the other hand, sanitary measures are being carried out to keep dengue under control and to ensure no other maladies affect the general public.
