WHO issues alert for two India - manufactured cough syrups following child deaths in Uzbekistan

World Health Organization has issued a “medical product alert” for two India- manufactured cough syrups Ambronol syrup and Dok-1 Max as dangerous for consumption.


Coimbatore: World Health Organization has issued a “medical product alert” for two India- manufactured cough syrups Ambronol syrup and Dok-1 Max.

The syrups made by Noida- based Marion Biotech came under the scanner after 18 children who consumed it died in Uzbekistan.

Following WHO’s alert a joint team of Central and State drug regulators conducted inspection at the company’s plant in Uttar Pradesh.

Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), has initiated a probe in connection with the death of 18 children in Uzbekistan allegedly linked to Marion Biotech of Noida.
