9-year-old girl diagnosed with dengue in Tirupur; special fever camps for school children organised on behalf of Corporation

A special fever camp was conducted at the Tirupur Weavers Colony Corporation School on behalf of the Tirupur Municipal Corporation, where a class 4 student is undergoing treatment for dengue fever.


Tirupur: The recent monsoon rains in Tirupur district have led to a change in the weather conditions and there has been a widespread flu outbreak in the district.



In this case, Pandian is a resident of Puthur in Pichchampalayam, Tirupur. He works in a seconds godown in the weavers colony area.

His daughter Azhagu Meenakshi is studying in Class 4 at the P N Road Weavers Colony Corporation School in Tirupur. She developed fever on Friday last week. She was undergoing medical treatment for the same but the fever did not go away for more than four days.

Meenakshi underwent a blood test at a private hospital on Wednesday. She was diagnosed with dengue fever. The doctors then recommended that he be admitted to the Tirupur Government Medical College Hospital.

But her parents took the girl to their hometown Madurai district and admitted her to thirumangalam government hospital. Pandian, father of Azhagu Meenakshi, said that the doctors are examining her there and are currently undergoing treatment.



Following this, a special fever camp was conducted in the school on behalf of the Health Department of Tirupur Corporation. Health department officials led by City Welfare Officer Gowri Saravanan administered mosquito repellent in the school premises and distributed nila vembu kasayam and anti-flu tablets to the students studying there.
