Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital has been selected as one of the top five medical college hospitals that have donated organs at the annual function of the Tamil Nadu Organ Transplant Authority.
Coimbatore: It is said that organ donation is the best donation to make others live beyond our own lives. Even today, there is reluctance among people to donate body organs that dissolve in soil and water after death, but due to the continuous awareness of government and private hospitals, many people are coming forward to donate organs today.
More than 5 lakh people die in India due to organ failure alone. Thus, when organs are donated to those who are on the verge of death due to reasons such as brain death, they are born again.
In this way, Coimbatore Government Hospital has received the award for best medical college hospital in receiving most organ donation. In an annual function organized by the Tamil Nadu Organ Transplantation Commission, the award was presented to the top five medical college hospitals for organ donation. In this, Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital has also been selected as one.
Regarding this, Dean Nirmala said, "In Coimbatore Government Hospital, body parts of a person who died of brain death in 2019 and body parts of three people this year have been donated four times. Of these, 15-20 people are currently alive due to kidney, eye, heart and liver parts,'' he said.
Medical science says that one brain dead person can rehabilitate 8 people who are fighting for their lives due to organ failure. Saving a dying life by giving a burning organ is the noblest act one can do in one's lifetime.
