“There is plenty of bending. Forward, backward, sideways besides twisting and breathing….dance yoga makes you flexible, tones up your muscles and helps you relax with meditation,” says D. Soundarajan. “It’s a routine where you do yoga and cardio exercises to music. It’s a fun-filled group activity in summer, especially outdoors.”
Advantages:
Soundararajan says Zen Namaskar that packs 108 steps exercises the entire body. “Surya Namaskar has 15 steps and you need seven minutes to complete one set whereas Zen Namaskar requires 15 minutes.” Dance-breathing - where you breathe as you move, jump and stretch - relaxes every muscle from head to toe, especially the back, spine and the hip. There are also a number of short warm-ups that can be done sitting, lying down and standing…you can also wear ankle weights while exercising to get more fitness benefits.
