Southern Railways introduces special trains for Sabarimala pilgrims

Salem : The Southern Railways has introduced special trains considering passengers travelling to Sabarimala for pilgrimage.

Salem : The Southern Railways has introduced special trains considering passengers travelling to Sabarimala for pilgrimage.

According to a statement, to handle the extra rush of passengers during Sabarimala Season, 260 special trains have been announced to be run from 16th November to 26th December. Southern Railway has notified 244 special trains in Chennai – Kollam sector covering major destinations such as Coimbatore, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Tiruchchirappalli, Madurai, Sengottai and Punalur enroute. South Central Railway has notified 18 special trains while East Coast Railway has notified 26 special trains till date.

Two pairs of Mail/Express trains, Train No.12697/12698 Chennai – Trivandrum - Chennai Weekly Express trains and Train No.22653 Trivandrum – Nizamuddin Weekly Express trains have been provided temporary stoppage at Chengannur from 24th November to 21st January for Sabarimala passengers.

Kollam – Hyderabad special fare special train

Train No.07110 Kollam – Hyderabad Special fare special train will leave Kollam at 3 a.m on 08th December via Kayankulam, Mavelikara, Chengannur, Tiruvalla, Changanaserry, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrissur, Ottapalam, Palghat, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Vaniyambadi, Katpadi, Tiruttani, Renigunta, Srikalahasthi, Venkatagiri, Gudur, Nellore, Kavali, Ongole, Chirala, Bapatla, Nidubrolu, Tenali, Vijayawada, Madhira, Khammam, Dornekal, Mahbubabad, Warangal, Kazipet, Janagoan, Cheralapali, and Secunderabad to reach Hyderabad at 10.30 a.m the next day. 

The train will have a composition of one AC II tier coach, one AC III tier coach, 10 sleeper class coaches, one AC chair car, and three general second class coaches. 

Kollam – Tirupati special fare special train

Train No.07506 Kollam – Tirupati special fare special train will leave Kollam at 06.45 a.m on 09th December via Kayankulam, Mavelikara, Chengannur, Tiruvalla, Changanaserry, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrissur, Ottapalam, Palghat, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Vaniyambadi, Katpadi and Chittore to reach Tirupati at 11.55 p.m the same day.

Advance Reservation for trains will open at 8 a.m tomorrow.
