The dam has reached its full capacity of 90 ft after heavy inflow of water from Munnar, Paambaru and Chinnaru. Around 32000 cusecs of water is being released into Amaravathi river and 440 cusecs is being released into Pudhu Vaaikal.

As excess water is being released into Amaravathi river, Tirupur district administration has issued a flood alert for people residing at the river banks of Kallapuram, Madathukulam, Dharapuram, Chinna Dharapuram and Aravakurichi.
PWD officials say ‘Water level of the dam is under continuous monitor, as more rains are expected to lash Munnar for the next two days."
District administration has alerted people not to venture into Amaravathi and adjoining water bodies. A helpline number 1077 has been allotted for registering flood-related issues.
