The better seasonal rains this year have increased the water levels of dams in the Ghats region. Pillur dam attained full capacity four times in two months. As the inflow of water to the dam increased, about 30,000 cusecs of water are being released from the dam through its four shutters considering the dam’s safety.

The district administration has issued flood alert to villages along the Bhavani River like Nellithurai, Alankompu, Vachinampalayam, and Lingapuram. The Bhavani temple along the banks of this river has almost submerged.
