The Tamil Nadu government had ordered the setting up of a new police station at kavundampalayam, separated from the Thudiyalur police limits in Coimbatore. Based on this, the work to set up a police station near the kavundampalayam flyover was going on for the last three months.
The police station had 27 policemen, including an inspector and two sub-inspectors. Tamil Nadu DGP Shailendra Babu inaugurated the new police station by cutting a ribbon and lighting a lamp.

He advised the police to inspect the area thoroughly and ensure that there is no law and order problem.

District Collector kranthi kumar Pati, Corporation Commissioner Prathap Kumar, Police Commissioner Balakrishnan and District SP Badrinarayanan were present on the occasion.
