In a meeting convened at the District Collectorate, top officials from Police,Traffic and state highways department held a discussion regarding the on-going two-tier fly over work at Gandhipuram.
The meeting was headed by the District Collector, TN Hariharan in the presence of Commissioner of Police, A.Amalraj.
Speaking on the flyover construction status, District Collector, Hariharan stated that 'The State government has sanctioned Rs. 162 crores for the total project. Presently, the first phase of work that commenced at the Nanjappa Road to Sakthi Road is next to completion.
Out of 54 floors, 51 floors have been already laid. The last phase of laying the remaining three sections is about to begin at the GP signal. As GP Signal is one of the prime junction leading to important parts of the city, we have derived temporary alternate traffic diversion plans.
* Gandhipuram to Ganapathy: Vehicles have to take the 2nd cross street of 100 feet road -Radhakrishnan Street - Omni bus stand - Ganapathy.
* Vadakovai to Ganapathy: Vehicles have to take the 7th Cross street of 100 feet road - Radhakrishnan Street - Omni bus stand - Ganapathy.
* 100 feet Road - Gandhipuram: Vehicles have to take Chinnasamy street - Ramakrishna street - Bharathiar street - Gandhipuram.
* Ganapathy - 100 feet Road: Vehicles have to go through Aavarampalayam - Chinnasamy street to reach 100 feet road.
* Ganapathy - Gandhipuram: Vehicles have to go through Aavarampalayam - Ramakrishna street - Bharathiar street - Gandhipuram.
Public and the commercial establishments along the routes are requested to co-operate with the temporary traffic diversions which will be implemented from 18th December (Sunday).
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Lakshmi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Saravanan, Divisional Engineer Highways, J. Kannan, Municipal Chief Engineer, Regional Transport Officer, Transport Department - Manager and heads of other departments were present during this meet.
