The 'Nari Shakti Puraskar' is awarded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development for outstanding contribution toward social service by women. Interested women and groups can apply through the Government of India's web portal www.awards.gov.in
Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran has invited applications from women for the Central Government's 'Nari Shakti Puraskar' by October 31. The award is conferred to women and women groups for outstanding contribution to social service.
In a notification, District Collector Sameeran said, "The 'Nari Shakti Puraskar' will be conferred on behalf of the Ministry of Women and Child Development for individual outstanding women, groups and institutions who have worked for the betterment of women in the areas of women's health, counselling, legal aid, awareness, education, specific contribution to women's empowerment, fighting against atrocities, violence and discrimination of women and children etc.
A cheque of Rs.2 lakh and a certificate will be presented to individuals and institutions selected for the award. Interested candidates can apply through the www.awards.gov.in website by October 31.
