Owing to landslide, MTP - Ooty-MTP services were affected and henceforth train services were cancelled, today. While, repair works have been expedited between Kallar and Hillgrove, services will continue to remain suspended on Sep 6th. However, train services between Coonoor – Ooty will be operated as scheduled.
Coimbatore: Landslide, triggered by heavy rains in the Nilgiris last night, obstructed a portion of the railway track between Kallar – Hillgrove. Boulders also rolled down and fell on the track. In view of these, the Mettupalayam – Udagamandalam – Mettupalayam train services were cancelled, today.
Meanwhile, restoration works are progressing at a brisk pace. Huge boulders were broken into small pieces and removed along with mud covering the NMR track, a release noted.
However, the railway track, along with the rack and pinion arrangement, needs to be attendedbefore being resuming services, according to the release.
Hence, Train No.06136 Mettupalayam – Udagamandalam train, scheduled to leave Mettupalayam at 07.10 hrs on 06.09.2022, and Train No.06137 Udagamandalam – Mettupalayam train, scheduled to leave Udagamandalam at 14.00 hrs on 06.09.2022, has been cancelled.
However, NMR train services between Coonoor – Udagamandalam will be operated as scheduled.
