Coimbatore: Over 40 special buses are to operated from the city to various destinations including Chennai and Madurai in view of the three days of extended holidays, said Transport officials here.
The omni bus operators who are fleecing the public by hiking the rates exorbitantly would be severely dealt with, the officials warned.

While the large number of students and workers would be travelling to their native towns, the omni bus operators smelling this opportunity are indulging in hiking the rates exorbitantly, passengers complain.
"They often hike the rates up to two to three times, which is condemnable and attracts punishment.

Bearing this in mind the transport authorities have increased the fleet of buses to Chennai, Madurai, Tiruchi, Salem ,Theni, Nellai and Nagercoil" the transport officials said.
While speaking to Simplicity the Transport department officials said that the need to strengthen the fleet of buses to various destinations is properly addressed during this holiday season.
