Coimbatore: To encourage and ensure the education of girls from low-income families, the Government of Tamil Nadu has ordered that the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Memorial Marriage Funding Scheme has been renamed as the Higher Education Guarantee Scheme.
This scheme offers 1000 rupees per month to be directly deposited into their bank account for all students studying in government schools from 6th to 12th standard and enrolling in higher education, degree, diploma, vocational course without dropout, even if they are receiving other educational assistance, they can avail additional assistance under this scheme.
The government also announced that aaccording to this scheme, students studying in government schools and government-aided schools can register themselves or through the college through the website www.penkalvi.in with relevant documents. The last date to apply under this scheme is June 30, but the applications can be accepted till July 10.
Furthermore, the Associate Director of College Education Ulaghi instructed the concerned colleges need to upload the details by July 7 in Coimbatore district. Moreover, Students are confused as 2 different dates have been announced. At the same time, the names of many colleges and courses are not available on the relevant website. Similarly no opportunity is given to rectify any correction in the information already recorded.
“Few difficulties are faced by colleges and students in registering under this scheme, concerned steps are being taken to resolve this. Since July 10 is the last day to register for the scheme, students can register till the date. In Coimbatore district, over 18,000 female students who studied in government schools are pursuing undergraduate degrees in colleges, almost 80 percent of them have applied to benefit from this scheme, also it gradually increase” said Ulaghi, Coimbatore Zonal Education Co-Director.
