Coimbatore : Prof. P. Kaliraj has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University for a period of three years with effect from the date of his assumption of office.

The official confirmation was released by Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Tamil Nadu and Chancellor of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
About Prof. P. Kaliraj
Prof. P. Kaliraj has a rich teaching experience of 31 years and is at present the ICMR Emeritus Medical Scientist in the Centre for
Biotechnology, Anna University.
He is experienced in University administration and held various capacities as officiating Vice-Chancellor, Dean of Faculty, AC College of Technology, Head of Department of Bio-technology and Member of Syndicate for 20 years in Anna University, Chennai.
Between 1999 and 2004 he has been a Research Collaborator with the National Institute of Health, Maryland, USA, Glasgow University, Scotland, UK and University of Illinois, Rockford, USA. He has published more than 69 research papers and has successfully guided 42 research scholars in their Ph.D courses.
In the year 2009, he was awarded BSR Faculty award by the University Grants Commission and in 2013 he received the Lifetime achievement award from the Biotechnology Research Society of India.
