Coimbatore: TNAU receives a design patent for dual-purpose agricultural implement.

The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has been granted a national patent for a dual-purpose agricultural implement. This patent was granted by the Union Commerce and Industry Ministry's Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks.

The Dual-Purpose Agricultural Implement is designed for both weed management and earthing-up operation in garden land crops. The designed equipment includes ground wheel, blade, prong, main frame and smooth handle.

The machine has two ground wheels for smooth mobility. The working blade is at the bottom of the equipment. It serves two functions: (a) it cuts the weeds, and (b) it provides a sliding action so that the root does not stick to the blade. The blade is attached to the prong.

The desired height of the handle from the ground surface is obtained with the adjusting support. The handle is joined to the main frame with the help of the handle pipe.

This advanced technological equipment can save farmers time, labor, resources, and ultimately increase their yields and profitability.
