Horticultural department: Udumalpet booms with small onion cultivation

Small onions can be grown in April and May, as well as October and November, depending on the nature and environmental circumstances. According to the horticulture department, catching the fruit may be difficult if the crop is cultivated late.

Tirupur: Gopinath, assistant director of the horticulture department in Tirupur's Gudimangalam block, issued a press release about the cultivation of small onions.

Small onions can be cultivated in April-May, as well as October and November, depending on the type and nature of the varieties. Fruiting may be problematic if planted late. Small onion yields can be boosted by using integrated cropping.

As a preventive crop, quality seed onions should be planted in two rows of maize around the field where the onion is cultivated.

To control flies in onions, use azadirachtin, methyl dematan to control cutworm, chlorpyriphos, mann cosef, or junet to control leaf spot disease, seed treatment with Pseudonomas and Trichoderma, and methyl dematan at 40 days after planting.
