Udumalai Amaravathi Cooperative Sugar Mill should function without any hindrance - Farmers' Demand

Amaravathi Co-operative Sugar Mill near Udumalpet will have a boiler lighting ceremony on April 10th. The farmers have demanded that the Amaravati Cooperative Sugar Mill should function smoothly at least in the current year.

Tirupur: Farmers have demanded that the Amaravathi Cooperative Sugar Mill near Udumalpet should function smoothly.

Amaravathi Cooperative Sugar Mill is functioning at Krishnapuram near Udumalai in Tirupur District. The sugarcane required for crushing is procured from the farmers of Udumalai, Madathukulam, Dharapuram, Palladam, Palani and Oddanchatram taluks.

The sugarcane crushing season is 6 months from April to September every year. Due to various reasons, including inadequate prices, the area under sugarcane cultivation continues to decline.

As a result, it is not possible to run the plant in full capacity and produce sugar. The sugarcane Ilanjoodu Festival for the current year will begin soon. The Ilanjoodu Festival ceremony will be held on The 10th.

The function will be presided over by the managing director of the mill Shanmuganathan and will be held in the presence of the chairman of the managing committee, vice-president, members, president and representatives of sugarcane growers' association, union representatives of the plant, officials and workers.

A meeting of farmers will also be held at the community hall. The sugarcane Ilanjoodu Festival has been delayed due to various issues and now the Ilanjoodu Festival is scheduled to be held on the 10th.

Meanwhile, farmers are expecting the plant to function fully without any restrictions in the current year.
