The course covered a variety of topics, including alternative feed stocks for biogas, biogas microbiology, biogas scrubbing for the production of bio-methane and bio-CNG, biogas applications, site selection and building biogas plants, solar thermal and photovoltaic technologies, and the production of biofuel from algae.
Coimbatore: The Department of Renewable Energy Engineering, Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, which is sponsored by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, organized three training programmes: Turnkey Workers training (16.03.2023)–30.03.2023) for unemployed youths, Staff training (27.03.2023)–30.03.2023) for Assistant Engineers and DRDA officials, and Masonry training (27.03.2023)–30.03.2023.
The course covered a variety of topics, including alternative feed stocks for biogas, biogas microbiology, biogas scrubbing for the production of bio-methane and bio-CNG, biogas applications, site selection and building biogas plants, solar thermal and photovoltaic technologies, and the production of biofuel from algae. Additionally, recent advancements in renewable energy had been covered.
For the participants to gain hands-on experience with various parts of biogas plant construction and maintenance, field trips were organized. During the survey time, turnkey worker trainees gathered information about biogas plants in various regions of Tamil Nadu.
A valedictory ceremony was conducted on March 30, 2023, at the Agricultural Engineering College & Research Institute, TNAU Coimbatore, to conclude the training. Dr. D. Ramesh, Professor & Head, Department of the Renewable Energy Engineering cum Coordinator BDTC, welcomed the group during the valedictory event.

In his presidential speech, Dr. A. Raviraj, Dean (Engg. ), AEC & RI, Coimbatore, emphasised the value of training while also presenting certificates to the participants. Finally, a formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. P. Vijayakumary, associate professor in the TNAU department of renewable energy engineering.
