Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) hosted a Global Conference and Expo on Agro Innovations from July 19 - 20 which was open to both school and college students, free of cost.
TNAU aimed to showcase its students' innovations to a wider audience and create a platform for industries to work with TNAU for transforming applied research into innovative products. The conference provided an opportunity for industries, entrepreneurs, start-ups and MSMEs to be part of a student-driven technological revolution.
More than 60 innovations from TNAU's postgraduate students' research were displayed in the Innovation Expo which aimed to help agro-industries and entrepreneurs to personally understand the impact of these technologies and work in coordination with TNAU.
The innovations were categorized into six themes like crop nutrition, crop care, crop improvement, post-harvest processing, herbal nutraceuticals and emerging technologies. This also aimed to help the stakeholders to pick the innovations based on their requirements to work further. The Expo looked to integrate stakeholders' needs in the research process and linked students with the industries to enlighten the young researchers on market demands and challenges in commercializing the technology.
The conference also aimed to connect more than 300 industries under actual and online modes. Students from other universities also participated in the conference to aid cross-learning. The conference provided student researchers with a big opportunity to present their innovations and also avail the opportunity to interact with stakeholders and market leaders.
