Coimbatore: As part of a national level campaign on 'Farm Mechanization' being celebrated by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi from March 28 to April 4, 2022, the city's ICAR- CIAE Regional Centre organized a one-day awareness program on 'Farm Machinery' for farmers at Pannimadai village, Coimbatore district on Friday, April 1.
The focus of the program is to highlight the importance and use of agricultural tools and machinery to double the production and triple the farmers' income. Dr. T Senthilkumar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIAE Regional Centre enumerated the importance of the program being held and welcomed the gathering. He also emphasized the need for agricultural machinery to reduce the drudgery and cost of cultivation.
Dr. S Balasubramanian, Principal Scientist & Head, ICAR-CIAE Regional Centre elaborated on the mechanization and automation usage in various agricultural operations. He highlighted the list of various packages of machinery designed and developed at ICAR-CIAE Regional Centre for sugarcane, banana, carrot, and cassava.

For the benefit of the farmers, an interaction session between scientists and farmers was also arranged. During the interaction, awareness was created among the farmers on the latest agricultural machinery available for coconut, banana and other region-specific crops. Dr. Syed Imran S, a Scientist assisted in organizing the program.
