Coimbatore: University students engaged in rural agricultural training are currently staying in Annur under their village scheme.

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, College of Agriculture final year students P. Sarumathy, J. Durgadevi, P. Geethalakshmi, Jothi Yagandi, K. Kirthana Priya, R. Minnusha, R. Muthuchelvi, S. Nandini, M. Priyadarshini, A. Sineka And Sh.Srinithi, an 11-member team, are currently staying in Annur under their village scheme.

They demonstrated a natural insect repellent called 3-G solution in Kanchappally village. The 3-G solution is a solution of ginger, garlic, green chillies.



Process: Paste with 18-gram garlic, 9-gram green chillies and 9-gram ginger. All three pastes are dissolved in 1-liter of water. Stir the mixture well and strain it before spraying. The extract is prepared with 500-ml, 100-ml soap solution and 9.4-liter water and sprayed on the plant.

Uses: Used to control shoot borer, fruit borer, stem borer, hairy caterpillar (drumstick stick) and nematode of vegetable crops.

Thus they did.
