TNAU organises Hands on Training on Instrumentation Techniques for Plant Physiology Research in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: Department of Crop Physiology at Tamilnadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore is organizing a two days hands on training programme on Instrumentation Techniques for Plant Physiology Research on March 5th and 6th.



This programme caters to the postgraduate students of TNAU in commemoration of “TNAU’s Golden Jubilee Year 2021”.



Dr M K Kalarani, Professor and Head, Department of Crop Physiology, welcomed the delegates, faculty members, research fellows and the participants of the training programme which began today. Dr J S Kennedy, Dean, School of PostGraduate Studies (SPGS) and Dr K S Subramanian, Director of Research, TNAU gave the felicitation address.

The training programme was inaugurated by Dr V Geethalakshmi, Director (Crop Management), TNAU, Coimbatore. A total of 26 student participants from various departments under the Directorate of Crop Management including Agronomy, Agriculture Meteorology and Crop Physiology attended the training program.

Dr. K S Subramanian, Director of Research, TNAU highlighted the significant role of Plant Physiology in crop growth and development and articulated the importance of gadgets and modern instruments in understanding Plant Physiology in a detailed manner.

Dr V Geethalakshmi, Director (Crop Management), TNAU, Coimbatore spoke about the importance and the role of agriculture in combating climate change, food security and food demand. She also elaborated the irreplaceable role of Crop Physiology in crop production under changing climate scenarios. Professors, and Heads of the departments, Scientists, Students and Staff members graced the occasion.

As a part of the event a book entitled “Physiological Approaches to enhance Photosynthetic Efficiency of Plants” was released. Dr V Ravichandran, Associate Professor (Crop Physiology), proposed a vote of thanks for the event.
