With the successful completion of renovation works, Botanical garden is now opened after a year.
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore is home to a Botanical Garden which was being renovated for over a year. Post the completion of the renovation projects the Botanical Garden in TNAU campus it is now opened for public use.

Dr BK Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, President, Bharat Vidya Bhavan, Coimbatore was the special guest at the event today. He took part in the launch ceremony and inaugurated the Botanical Garden.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vice Chancellor of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University said that the botanical garden, which had been inactive for a year, has now been renovated and opened for public use.

He also said that it was his dream to make the university garden one of the best botanical gardens in the world and said that he always wanted his students to witness a botanical garden of several thousand species of plants like the one in Europe at least once in their lifetime.
Vice Chancellor TNAU further added that “the university has decided to extend the public viewing time till 8 pm. The park will also be open from 7 amin the morning to allow old people to practice their daily exercises. We are also planning to create a snack shop for the public.†He said.

Following him, BK Krishnaraj Vanavarayar said that he had been invited to speak on environmental protection and asked on behalf of the university to create awareness among the people about it. He said that protecting the environment was not an important thing a hundred years ago but the reason for the current situation where we are struggling to protect our environment is due to improper handling of modern technologies.
He also added that we should protect natural resources with the help of science and students should do their best to protect the environment.
