Pollachi Farmers request government to cancel loans taken in the month of January and February this year

Chief Minister Edapadi Palanisamy recently made an issued a government order to cancel the interest free loans from the co-operative banks to farmers.


Coimbatore: Co-operative banks were giving interest free loans of 25,000 rupees for every acre of coconut farm and 15,000 rupees for empty lands.

However, Chief Minister Edapadi Palanisamy recently made an issued a government order to cancel the interest free loans from the co-operative banks to farmers. With that the co-operative bank workers are involved in the works for cancelling the loans.

But it is said that the government has cancelled only the loans that were given till last December. Regarding this issue, farmers from Angalakuruchi village near Pollachi, Coimbatore have joined together and had a meeting about this.



During the meeting, the members thanked the Chief Minister for cancelling the farmer's loans. Then they came up with a resolution and requested the government to cancel the farmer's loans that were got in the month of January and February this year.

The farmers then said "that the co-operative bank officials are not cancelling the loans which were received till Jan 31st as mentioned by the Chief Minister. We request the government to cancel the loans of the two months too" they said.
