The Kerala government has now set-up a 11 member team to kill the birds in the areas of Alappuzha and Kottayam.
Coimbatore: Bird Flu is vividly spreading in the Kerala districts of Kottayam and Alappuzha. With the flu infection on the rise poultry and ducks which are grown both in farms and at local resident's houses around 1km are planned to be killed by the state government.
The Kerala government has now set-up a 11 member team to kill the birds in the locality. The team includes Veterinary doctors, supervisors and 2 deputy supervisors, revenue officers, panchayat officers and 1 police officer are in this team.
In an immediate meeting held for the district collectors, it was decided to cremate the birds that are being killed using diesel and other products which are now being sent to the respective panchayat offices.
State Minister Raju, Ministry of forest, wildlife protection and animal husbandry in a press meet said "Kerala government has announced Bird Flu as a statewide calamity. Over 38,000 birds within 4 panchayats in Alappuzha and 5 panchayats in Kottayam are planned to be killed to prevent spread of the disease."
