The coconut coir manufactured from Pollachi are exported to countries like China, America and other countries in Europe.

The producers of coir say that the industry makes a multi-crore trade every year and also increases the foreignexpenditure rate.

They also say that China has been the biggest buyer of coconut coir from India and they resell it in China becausecoconut coir is used in various industries such as terrace farming and in the production of coir based home decors.

The Chinese companies sell coir products as a valued designer product to get higher profits out of it.

With that said, the producers are requesting the government to move coir designer products under valued products both domestically and internationally which will encourage people to buy coir products over plastics. This way it is also said to improve the foreign expenditure rate.

In a new trial, a company with an investment of ₹5 lakhs has now been involved in the manufacture of designer flower pots as a replacement to plastic flower pots in the market. It is also said that coir pots are environment friendly as they are degradable in nature causing no side effects to nature.

China has been involved in using the 6 metric ton of coconut coir exported from India and turning them into designer products in the international market which gives them a much more profit.

The producers also requested the government of India to encourage the production of designer coir products by sanctioning the manufacturers ₹25 - 50 lakh rupees loans with extra subsidiaries. They also said that this way India can beat China in exports to foregin industries .
