Coimbatore: Today most people are turning to natural farming‌ and natural food‌. Organic farming is completely natural as synthetic chemicals are not used and crops are cultivated in conjunction with nature. The role of Panchakavya is considered to be immense in organic farming.

Panchakavya is a natural nutrient fertilizer that promotes the growth of crops and gives immunity. This can improve the quality of the soil and promote the growth of crops. Panchakavya is made from cow dung, cow urine, milk, yoghurt and ghee. Apart from these, jaggery, tender coconut water and poovan banana are also used. When this mixture is fermented for 30 days, it results in panchakavya solution. Panchakavya prepared in this method can yield miraculous results.

Panchakavya contains nutrients, micronutrients, growth promoters and pest and disease control agents. There are also beneficial microorganisms such as Lactobacillus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Actinomycetes, yeast and methylotrophs. These promote crop growth and disease resistance. Panchakavaya can be used for all types of crops.

Panchakavaya is recommended as a 3% solution of foliar spray or mixed at the rate of 50 liters per hectare under drip irrigation. Tender coconut water and poovan bananas in Panchakavya provide nutrients to plants, promotes crop growth, increase root multiplication, protect crops from pest and diseases, increase crop yield and produce quality products.
