1300 participants take part in HORTI UTSAV 2020 in TNAU

Horticultural College & Research Institute (HC & RI), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, organized a Horticultural Graduate Conference titled 'Horti Utsav' on March 12, 2020, for the Horticultural graduates of the constituent and affiliated Horticultural colleges of TNAU.


Horticultural College & Research Institute (HC & RI), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, organized a Horticultural Graduate Conference titled 'Horti Utsav' on March 12, 2020, for the Horticultural graduates of the constituent and affiliated Horticultural colleges of TNAU.



This conference served as a platform for the students to showcase their unique talents in the field of horticulture, guidance for career, confidence building and personality development. The conference was attended by nearly 1300 participants including 900 students, 100 faculties, research scholars and teaching assistants of different horticultural colleges viz., HC & RI, Coimbatore, HC & RI, Periyakulam, HC & RI (Women), Trichy, RVS Padmavathy College of Horticulture, Dindigul and Adhiparasakthi Horticultural College, Kalavai.



On the eve of Horti Utsav, several on stage events like Battle for the Jacket, Pick and Speak, Short Film, Connections, Exhibition and Motivational lectures and off stage events like brushless painting, face painting, poster presentations, fruit/vegetable carving, Tamil poetry, artsy lens and pencil sketching were conducted, in which students participated enthusiastically.



M. Ijas, final year Master's student of Fruit Science welcomed the gathering. The 'Horti Utsav 2020' was inaugurated by a distinguished administrator, S. Yuvaraj, I.F.S., Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Chief Wild Life Warden, Chennai, who delivered the Inaugural address. He highlighted the potential of the Horticulture industry and about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) which gave an insight into the opportunities present in the future.

A leading entrepreneur in Horticulture, Saji Abraham, Director of Operations, Ms.Tsemach, Business Consultancy Private Limited, Coimbatore gave a motivational lecture to the graduates. Dr. L. Pugalendhi, Dean of theCollege delivered the Special Address.
