Coimbatore: Counsel General of Israel, Dana Kursh visited Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, on January 29 to initiate dialogue on mutually beneficial research collaborations.
Dr N. Kumar, Vice-Chancellor warmly welcomed the Consul General of Israel. Dr K.S. Subramanian, Director of Research highlighted on the activities and achievements of TNAU and presented a set of researchable issues of mutual interest to take forward.

Discussions were held on emerging areas of interest include sensors for the early detection of pests, diseases and nutrient deficiencies, artificial intelligence for plant health monitoring, drone technology for the delivery of inputs besides robotics in agriculture.
As Israelis are well known for their effective water management strategies, Tamil Nadu has to learn about water management techniques followed there to adopt them in drought-hit regions, the officials from TNAU told in a release.
A release from TNAU confirmed that the Consul General expressed her interest to support collaborative research programs between TNAU and lead research institutes/universities in Israel.
Indeed, she was very impressed with the activities and accomplishments of TNAU and looking forward to suggesting action with her office to initiate dialogue between TNAU administration and Israel.
She had bestowed interest to further strengthen the activities of the TNAU nanotechnology research and development activities. She also visited the high-density Mango Planting in TNAU Orchard and interacted with the Vice-Chancellor who himself has developed and promoted this technology.
The TNAU team is truly excited about the visit to the Consul General and wishing to establish close research collaborations between TNAU and Israel, the release said.
