Coimbatore: About 26 international participants representing 10 countries comprising of Bangladesh, Botswana, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Nepal and Sri Lanka participated in the international training program on 'Agroforestry - Policy, Practice and Impact' held at the Forest College and Research Institute, TNAU.
Coimbatore: About 26 international participants representing 10 countries comprising of Bangladesh, Botswana, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Nepal and Sri Lanka participated in the international training program on 'Agroforestry - Policy, Practice and Impact' held at the Forest College and Research Institute, TNAU.

The training program was held from October 20 - 24. The major focus of the training was to inculcate the knowledge on value chain developments in Agroforestry through technical, organizational and marketing interventions made in Tamil Nadu for successful adoption and replication in foreign countries.
The participants were exposed to hands-on training, field and industrial visits which benefitted skill and expertise development on various technologies like miniclonal technology, multifunctional agroforestry briquetting, pelleting and activated carbon technology besides gaining knowledge on Consortium and business developmental activities.

The program was funded by International agencies like Feed for the Future, USAID and ICRAF in association with the Government of India. The training program concluded on October 24, with the Vice-Chancellor, TNAU Dr. N Kumar felicitating the delegates in the presence of Dr. S K Dhyani, Agroforestry Specialist of ICRAF.
The training program was coordinated by Dr. K K Suresh, Dean (Forestry) and Dr. K T Parthiban Professor & Head (Agroforestry). The training aims to help disseminate the technologies developed in Tamil Nadu across Asia and the African region to create sustainable livelihood, nutritional and environmental security.
