Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University's (TNAU) Department of Seed Science and Technology will host a training for farmers on 'Seed Quality Improvement Skills Training' funded by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) on October 3.
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University's (TNAU) Department of Seed Science and Technology will host a training for farmers on 'Seed Quality Improvement Skills Training' funded by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) on October 3.
Dr S Sundareshwaran, Director of Seed Centre, TNAU urged the farmers' community to come forward to produce standard quality seeds and to use a new variety of yield for seed production. He noted that by providing seed, farmers could double their profit.
Dr S Sundareshwaran requested the farmers to produce good quality of seeds and ensure supply of new seeds produced to fellow farmers. "The farmers have to make sure they maintain the ethnicity of the crop varieties," he added.
Dr P R Renganayaki, Professor and Director of Department of Seed Science and Technology, TNAU opined that quality seeds could yield proper cultivation for farmers. Apart from producing quality seeds, farmers should safeguard the seeds sprinkled and follow seed treatment after cultivation.
Dr K Raja, the Coordinator of the training said that the farmers who will be participating in the training program will benef either as individuals or groups, in learning how to produce seeds and gain more profit. Seed crop management, seed purification, quality control and many other seed treatment techniques were demonstrated to the farmers by the scientists.
