Coimbatore: The National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad, in collaboration with the Directorate of Extension Education, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore jointly hosted a training program on 'Good Practices and Innovations in Agricultural Extension' from August 26-30, at TNAU.

About 24 participants including scientists from State Agricultural Universities, KVKs, NGOs, Department of Agriculture, Horticulture & Sericulture from Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Uttarakhand are participating in the training program.
Dr. J Venkata Pirabu, Director, Planning & Monitoring, TNAU, inaugurated the program and stressed the importance of good practices and innovations in extension in doubling the farmers' income, combating and mitigating flood, drought, water problems and managing natural resources.
Dr. M Jawaharlal, the Director of Extension Education narrated the extension systems in India and various innovative extension initiatives of TNAU, especially value chain models in agriculture. Dr. Saravanan Raj, Director (Agrl. Extension), MANAGE, Hyderabad explained the importance of the training program and shared about good practices and innovations in extension, in India.
Dr. K R Ashok, Director, CARDS, TNAU emphasized the importance of market-led extension initiatives. Dr. S Sundareswaran, Director (Seeds), Dr. M Asokhan, Deputy Registrar (Affiliation), Dr. P Balasubramaniam, Professor & Head, Dept. of Agrl. Extension & Rural Sociology, TNAU, participated in the inaugural function. Earlier, Dr. Ravi Kumar Theodore, Professor & Head, Training Division, TNAU welcomed the gathering and to conclude the event, Dr. M Senthil Kumar, Assistant Professor, proposed the vote of thanks.
