TN farmer awarded ICFA Progressive Farmer Award 2019

Coimbatore: A farmer, P R M Ravichandran from Thandigudi village, in Dharmapuri District received the ICFA Progressive Farmer Award 2019 in the category of Farm Extension during the Second All India Progressive Farmers Convention 2019, jointly organized by the Indian Council of Food and Agriculture, New Delhi and the All India Farmers Alliance at Constitution Club, New Delhi.


Coimbatore: A farmer, P R M Ravichandran from Thandigudi village, in Dharmapuri District received the ICFA Progressive Farmer Award 2019 in the category of Farm Extension during the Second All India Progressive Farmers Convention 2019, jointly organized by the Indian Council of Food and Agriculture, New Delhi and the All India Farmers Alliance at Constitution Club, New Delhi. 



P R M Ravichandran was honoured by Dr. Ashok Bajpai, MP in the presence of Dr. M J Khan, Chairman, Indian Council of Food and Agriculture, New Delhi, Dr. Rajaram Tripathi, President, All India Farmers Alliance and Raman Mittal, Executive Director, Sonalika Group, New Delhi.

The Indian Council of Food and Agriculture envisions providing exposure to farmers by sharing successful agri-business models and sensitizing them with policies, schemes, technologies and markets. Rewarding evolution will be evident when farmers themselves become role models for fellow farmers. The forum's main aim is to establish a national level platform for progressive farmers to share success stories and connect with the industry and key stake holders for collaboration and growth opportunities. In this convention, more than 300 progressive farmers attended from all over India and 12 farmers received awards in various categories for the development of agriculture. 

P R M Ravichandranan who received the ICFA progressive Farmer Award 2019 in the category of farm extension served the student community for the past 15 years and shared his farming knowledge to school students and TNAU students, in various programs. He also took special efforts to conduct a 'Farm School' in his field for horticulture experts to study the various cultivation aspects of vegetables through the ATMA scheme. 

He served the farming community for the past 20 years in Thandigudi and started a Small Producer Organization (SPO) with 100 farmers in Thandigudi, for the development of farmers. He is also a member on the board of Management, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. 

P R M Ravichandran, till date has shared his knowledge and discussed with around 1000 agricultural and botany students. He has also received the national award 'Harit Kranti Award 2017' for serving the farming society from ICAR and AIASA during the third NYC at the Assam Agricultural University.
