Grantsmanship Workshop held in TNAU

Coimbatore : The Directorate of Research organised a three days ‘Grantsmanship Workshop’ to empower young faculty of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University here.

Coimbatore : The Directorate of Research organised a three days ‘Grantsmanship Workshop’ to empower young faculty of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University here.

The workshop was aimed at imparting skills to write winning research proposals and get grants from externally funded projects.

The Grantsmanship Workshop was inaugurated by N. Kumar, Vice Chancellor of TNAU and was presided over by N.K. Krishnakumar, former Deputy Director of General (Horticulture) of ICAR, New Delhi. 

Inaugurating the event, N. Kumar emphasised on the importance of research grants in augmenting financial support to undertake high quality research. 



During his address, Krishnakumar, narrated the needs of getting outside financial support and offered a series of strategies to win over competitive research grants. 

K.S. Subramanian, Director of Research, TNAU, Coimbatore, presented the overview of orchestrating a winning proposal besides providing tricks and tactics of getting research grants from various funding agencies. 

After the presentation, Director of Research, Director (CPMB & B) and a team of taskforce members reviewed 28 research proposals of young faculty from TNAU with reference to title and objectives. 

Thereafter, M. Raveendran, Course Director, took the faculty to CPMB & B where they have been assigned three sessions of practical exercise to skeleton the project and the improved version . 

On the third day, all participants had presented their projects, got them revised and ready for submission to the funding agencies. 

The participants expressed their happiness adding such events would help them empower themselves to get equipped on grantsmanship.
