Coimbatore: A special postal cover on India’s first Insect Museum, the TNAU Insect Museum was released on December 4, as part of the Indian Postal Circle Cultural Meet held at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU).
Coimbatore: A special postal cover on India’s first Insect Museum, the TNAU Insect Museum was released on December 4, as part of the Indian Postal Circle Cultural Meet held at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU).
Dr. N Kumar, Vice Chancellor, was the Chief Guest of the program. Dr. A S Krishnamoorthy, Director, Centre for Plant Protection Studies of TNAU, D Ambesh Upmanyu, Post Master General, Western Zone, Dr. Sudhir Gopal Jakhere, Senior Superintendent of Postal Department and V Ramasamy, Director of Postal Service were among others who took part in the event.

As part of the event, the Post Master General, Western Zone, Coimbatore released a special cover on the TNAU Insect Museum and presented its first copy to the Vice Chancellor of TNAU. Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor remarked that the Insect Museum will be an eye-opener to the public on different aspects of insects. Further, he added that a butterfly park in the University Botanical Garden will be established in the near future. The meeting was organized by the Department of Agricultural Entomology, TNAU, in collaboration with the Department of Posts, Coimbatore, Western Zone.
